Welcome back to our blog and allow us to introduce a brand new series, 'Cari's Closet Chats With....'

Every so often, we'll be chatting with some of our favourite Irish bloggers to find out all about their lives, their fashion and their top picks of our products. First up, we have the gorgeous Stephanie O'Quigley. You'll probably know her from her blog, SnappedUp, but she has recently launched a brand new lifestyle site, stephanieoquigley.com. Stephanie is a beauty publicist (aka the job of dreams) and she lives in the one and only New York City. Read on to find out all about how she got started in blogging, what it's really like to live in New York, and what she misses about life in Ireland.

Tell us more about how you became a blogger...

I launched my blog 5 years ago in college because I always wanted to have my own magazine (and had a lot more spare time). 5 years on, I am still blogging every single day. You have to love it to stick with it and that's why I think I've stayed involved in it for so long.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Oh my! I get up around 6AM, lace up my runners and head to the gym. Afterwards, I have a quick shower before jumping on the subway and dashing through Times Square to get to work. I usually pre-order Starbucks on my app (I am addicted) and they have it ready for me when I swing by. I usually get to my desk around 9.20. I am a beauty publicist so throughout the day, I work on 8 various beauty brands, getting them as much coverage in the media as possible and looking after their events, influencer campaigns and more. It's extremely exciting and I love every minute of it. I haven't taken a lunch break since I was in college, so I usually just run to the nearest deli on my block and grab a salad or something quick and bring it back to the office. Hours are long in NYC so we usually work til 7-8pm on an early night. After work, I usually head home and work on my blog, if I don't have plans. Sometimes, I might do an extra session at the gym (it's right across the street from me) Usually I am exhausted so whatever juice I have left in me at this hour is a bonus!

What is your number one tip for people wanting to get into blogging?

So cliche but I always say it; be yourself. You are setting yourself up for failure if you try to copy anyone else.

How did you get into your career as a beauty publicist? What advice would you give anyone looking to get into that industry?

I previously worked for Marissa Carter, Creator of Cocoa Brown Tan. I worked as the Marketing Manager for Cocoa Brown for over 3 years and with distribution in the UK, Sweden, Australia and the USA, I got to learn how to work with international public relations teams. When I came to the US, I was very grateful to interview for the position I am in now. It's a perfect fit and I love it.

My advice to anyone interested in moving into beauty PR would be to network as much as possible. Also, it's important to think if you will actually like the work; you definitely need thick skin, a problem-solving attitude, creative abilities to write and develop content to attract as much attention as possible and you also have to be pretty savvy online, as this is where everything is heading.

What is the best and worst thing about living in New York?

The best thing is having the world at your fingertips at any moment. Everything is happening in NYC and the buzz hits you every day. I also love being as independent as I am. I love my neighbourhood and can easily get from A to B on my own two feet. No bumper to bumper M50!

The worst thing is probably the cost and the pace. I did a blog on "How Much Does It Cost To Live In New York City?", it's just mindblowing. Additionally, I wish I had more downtime here. Hours are longer and more intense but hey, if you can't stand the heat you leave the kitchen, right?

What do you miss the most about living in Ireland?

The simplicity and pace of life there. I crave that so much.

Who is your favourite fellow Irish blogger and why?

This is such a toughie! I really admire the content that Tar Marz creates, I just know so much work goes into it. SoSueMe will always be the OG of the Irish blogging scene too!

What trends do you love for AW17?

I am obsessed with all the pale pinks and the tiered effects too.

Lastly, what is your favourite piece from Cari’sCloset and why?

The Poppie Floral Print Tiered Cold Shoulder Dress because of the combinations of my favourite, florals, and the tiered AW17 effect. Sexy, cute and I love a good long-sleeve too.

Thank you so much, Stephanie, for chatting to us, it's been a pleasure!
